Dear Paul

     Last night I wrote you.  This morning I received the paper & found that stocks went down again on the opening of the Exchange.  I feel certain that any thing may happen, with the chances of still further decline.  I dont want to spend money uselessly if it in any way imperils your affairs.  I would be just as happy back home but would stay here until February if I knew it was all right.  In which case I should go to the Rivierara. I am wiring you tonight to write me full particulars of how matters stand.  Of course the thing that worries me is that the broker will sell

you xxx out some day by throwing stuff in the market without any regard to price.  Then too they might go broke.  I should think you could arrange with the first National so they would carry what they have ? but I dont know.  I presume you have paid very little on the account and are not able to get more money very fast.  Use any thing of mine that you think best.  I dont want you to think that I take this to seriously.  If you should loose most of yours & mine is not used we will get along all right, and live just as long, but I dont want to see it happen.  I shall get an answer to my cable xxx tonight about the time you get this

letter & if you find things any different xxx when you get this letter than, they were when you write your answer my cable then wire me.  I will stay here until I have a chance to get an answer to this letter & if things seem safe will go to France if not will come back reaching America about Dec. 10th.
