Newton C. Dougherty

In March 1915 Darrow and another attorney represented Newton C. Dougherty in a request for a pardon before Illinois Governor Dunne. Dougherty was convicted of forgery committed while he was the Superintendent of Schools for Peoria County had spent seven years in prison. Dougherty had faced 140 indictments but plead guilty to five indictments which amounted to $750 worth of forgery. Governor Dunne granted the pardon. Photo published in The Outlook‎ in 1905.
