Judge Comerford presided over an Illinois trial in 1920 in which Clarence Darrow and several other attorneys defended twenty members of the Communist Labor party who were charged with advocating the forceful overthrow of the government. The defendants were convicted and this was affirmed by the Illinois Supreme Court in People v. Lloyd, 304 Ill. 23 (1922). Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division, LC-USZ62-123872
