Walter Johnson

A Major League baseball pitcher from 1907 to 1927, Walter Perry Johnson is considered one of the greatest pitchers in the history of baseball. During the Haywood trial, Johnson was a 20-year-old pitcher playing his second season with the semi-professional Weiser Kids located about 75 miles from Boise. When the Weiser Kids traveled to Caldwell to play their semi-pro team on June 30, 1907 the game rivaled the Haywood trial for interest. In August 1907 Johnson began his professional career with the Washington Senators. Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division LC-DIG-npcc-19194.
