William McAdoo [c. 1910]

New York City Chief Magistrate William McAdoo conducted a hearing and bound Gitlow and Larkin over to the grand jury for violating New York's criminal anarchy statute. From 1904 to 1906, McAdoo served one term as police commissioner before becoming a magistrate. In addition, he was the administrative judge for the entire system of New York police courts.
