Dear Mr. Darrow:-

Please accept my thank you for the book. It is a vivid & truthful picture I know of much that comes along in many a poor devils life - The book shows up painfully many of the short comings of our boasted civilization and christianization and if it helps to correct then you will be entitled to much credit - At any rate it turns light in places when light was needed & therein you hand [?] over your past and done it well - I thank you for writing the book and sending me a copy -

I know of an instance when a so called expert swore positively that certain stains were human blood but on a vigorous cross examination by a good lawyer the expert was made to admit that he could not explain to the jury the difference in the appearance under the microscope between human blood & red paint=

I hope you are well and happy -

Your friend

James K. Jones
