Hon. Clarence Darrow,

77 West Washington St.,

Chicago, Illinois.

Dear Mr. Darrow:

This is the first opportunity I have had to respond to your fine message of September 17.

I want you to know how much I appreciate hearing from you. It is a source of satisfaction to know that one's friends have confidence in one, especially when those friends are as generous in their expressions as yourself.

If anything brings you to Wisconsin, of course you will let me know. It would be fine to have a visit with you.

With kindest regards,

Faithfully yours,

Philip F. La Follette
