Bolton Hall to Clarence Darrow, May 4, 1906
Hall is referring to the legally suspect manner in which Moyer, Haywood and Pettibone were arrested at different locations in Denver, Colorado in February of 1906 and extradited to Idaho to face murder charges for the assassination of former governor of Idaho Frank Steunenberg. In May of 1906, the labor leader Mother Jones related in a letter to another labor leader that Bolton Hall had given Clarence Darrow much encouragement and guaranteed assistance with the defense of Haywood and the other defendants.
