31. Note some discrepancies in section numbers between the two sources. According 
to Maureen Wall,  The Penal Laws, 1,089 priests registered in 1704. No oaths 
were required of them. Note that this statute did not require registration for 
priests not in the country on that date. Sec. 4 provides that this act and the 
list of registered priests shall be read publically at every general assize, and 
that it will be in force for 5 years only. <a href="chron-anne.html#8Ac3s17">8
